Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patricia “Pat” Brady Weathers of the home his daughter, Betsy Weathers Ross and husband Ken of Mt. Tarheel born and Tarheel bred, he lived, loved, and cheered until the end. His smile, genuine kindness, generosity, and bigger-than-life personality will always be his legacy.
Lovingly known as “Don Don”, he taught them all to be “fine young men and fine young ladies” and he was very proud that they had become just that.ĭon shared his time serving as the Patriarch of the entire family, never too busy to do anything for them while serving as a “father figure” to many. He and Pat enjoyed European cruises, attending UNC sports events including 15 Final Fours and spending time with family at Lake Norman and at his favorite place, the Garden City, SC beach house.ĭon’s biggest passion was his devotion to his family and his greatest joy was to be in the presence of his 5 grandchildren.
His ownership and time spent at Newton City Pharmacy were very special to him as he loved the interaction with his friends, family, and customers.Īfter retirement, Don never stopped living life to the fullest. After graduating from Shelby High School in 1958, Don graduated from UNC School of Pharmacy in 1963 and practiced pharmacy until he retired in 2010. Donald Lawrence Weathers, 82, of Newton passed away on Friday, Jat his residence.īorn Decemin Shelby, NC, he was the son of the late William Roy Weathers and Lucille Allen Weathers.
